With 16.9 million viewers, the Grammy Awards 2024 drew the most audience since the pandemic. 

Grammy Awards have grown compared to the Emmy Awards, which drew 4.3 million viewers this year.

On Sunday, 16.9 million viewers watched Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, and Taylor Swift make history at the Grammy Awards, the largest audience in four years and another consecutive annual increase for a show recovering from pandemic declines.

On Sunday, CBS, Paramount+, and other digital outlets saw 34% higher ratings than last year, and delayed watching was estimated to reach 17 million viewers. Stevie Wonder, Annie Lennox, Jon Batiste, and Fantasia Barrino performed in memoriam, drawing 18.25 million viewers.

Sunday's audience comfortably surpassed the 12.4 million who watched Harry Styles, Lizzo, and Bad Bunny perform as a tribute to 50 years of rap history in 2023. 

Trevor Noah, who has hosted since 2021, has led another year of development. Live viewership was 8.8 million in 2021 and 8.9 million in 2022. Results this year are closer to pre-pandemic levels: Music showcase night drew 18.7 million people in 2020.

The rise contrasts with the Emmy Awards, which had a record-low audience of 4.3 million on Fox earlier this year.

Miley Cyrus's dramatic rendition of Flowers won record of the year, and Billie Eilish's beautiful piano ballad from Barbie, What Was I Made For?, won song of the year. The album Midnights won Swift her fourth Grammy for album of the year, a record.

In recent years, live television viewership has fallen across the board, with pro football being the exception.
