The Starz prequel to ‘Outlander’ casts and begins production.

Starz's “Outlander” prequel has cast its four leads. 

Starz also announced that “Outlander: Blood of My Blood,” a 10-episode series, is being produced in Scotland. 

Harriet Slater, Jamie Roy, Hermione Corfield, and Jeremy Irvine (War Horse, “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again”) star in the series. 

Jamie's parents, Ellen MacKenzie (Slater) and Brian Fraser (Roy), and Claire's parents, Julia Moriston (Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Irvine), will be explored in the season.  

According to the official description, “The series will center on these two parallel love stories set in two different time periods, 

with Jamie’s parents in the early 18th century Scottish Highlands and Claire’s parents in WWI EnglandMatthew B. Roberts, showrunner, executive producer, and writer on “Outlander” and “Outlander: 

Blood of My Blood,” said, “We’re thrilled to be telling the stories of these two couples “We're so excited for fans to discover and fall in love with these characters and their love stories like they have with Claire and Jamie. 

Their origins explore universal themes that transcend time periods.”
