Lainey Wilson leads 2023 CMA Awards nominations (again) with near-record-breaking 9 nods

Lainey Wilson tops the Country Music Association Awards nominations for the second year in a row, with nods in nine categories.

And the "Heart Like a Truck" singer became the first performer in CMA history to top the nominations list in their first two appearances on the ballot. 

Her nine nominations also tied her with Merle Haggard and Miranda Lambert for the second most in a single year.

Alan Jackson set the record with ten nominations in 2002.

Wilson's six nominations last year marked her the fourth artist in CMA history to receive six nominations in her first year

after Glen Campbell, Brad Paisley, and Kacey Musgraves.   "Holy moly y'all," 

Wilson posted in response to the nominations list on Instagram. "Please pinch me. "I can't believe what I'm seeing."

Among her nominees is Entertainer of the Year, which she describes as "absolutely surreal." Luke Comb

Luke Combs, whose cover of Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car" topped the charts this year, Chris Stapleton, Carrie Underwood, and new hitmaker Morgan Wallen round out her competition. 

Wilson has also been nominated for female vocalist, album, single, song, musical event, and music video
