Israel: Eden Golan selected for Eurovision 2024

The final of Israel's talent program HaKokhav HaBa took place tonight in Neve Ilan.

he talent program HaKokhav HaBa (The Next Star / הכוכב הבא) premiered in November 2023, and after multiple auditions, shortlisting rounds, heats, and semi-finals, the Final was held tonight.

The final was place at Neve Ilan and was hosted by Rotem Sela and Assi Azar (Eurovision 2019's host).

The four finalists performed cover songs, and the top three proceeded to the Superfinal. The three remaining competitors performed a song apiece, followed by the final voting.

A committee will select Eden Golan's song for the Eurovision stage in May. Songwriters have till February 11 to submit songs to broadcasters Kan and Keshet.

The song will feature Hebrew lyrics and be announced in March 2024.

Eden Golan, 20, dreamed of competing in the Olympics since she began as an artistic gymnast at the age of nine.

But everything changed during a family holiday in Thailand, when there was music in the hotel lobby, 

she stepped on stage to perform "Jingle Bells". That was a wake-up call for young Eden. She wanted to sing.
