Eight former SEC athletes were named to the NBA All-Star Game 

Two Burnsville police officers and a paramedic were fatally shot during a domestic disturbance call on Feb. 18. 

The state legislators representing Burnsville expressed grief and solidarity with the victims' families and the injured sergeant. 

The fallen officers were identified as Officer Paul Elmstrand and Officer Matthew Ruge, while the paramedic was Adam Finseth. 

Sergeant Adam Medlicott was injured in the tragic incident and is receiving medical treatment. 

The legislators pledged support for survivors of domestic abuse and emphasized the dangers officers face in such situations. 

They highlighted Burnsville's community spirit and pledged to support the affected families and first responders. 

Elmstrand, 27, joined the police department in 2017, Ruge, 27, joined in 2020, and Finseth, 40, became a firefighter/paramedic in 2019. 

Burnsville officials will hold a media briefing at 4 p.m. and a community-organized vigil is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Burnsville City Hall.
