Andy Reid's best work yet? Chiefs coach's 2023 season was one of his finest

Henderson, Nevada— Andy Reid will celebrate 25 years as NFL head coach at Game 58. Whether or not his Kansas City Chiefs win their third Lombardi Trophy in five seasons Sunday night in Las Vegas, some say Reid's 2023 season is his best.

“Yeah, I would agree with that,” Chiefs tight end Blake Bell told USA TODAY Sports Thursday.

Despite the ups and downs this year, he kept it together and said, "Hey, man, everyone just stay the course," throughout practice week. Keep doing us. Just fix a few things and be us—nothing else needs to change.

We survived the playoffs and are in the Super Bowl. His usual advice is, ‘Don’t peak too soon, man.’”

This comment fits after a season of ups and downs.

Travis Kelce (knee injury) and Chris Jones (holdout) missed Week 1 of the Chiefs' title defense against the Detroit Lions, a one-point home loss.

After six straight wins, Kansas City lost five of the next eight, including a humiliating Christmas loss at Arrowhead Stadium to the division-rival Las Vegas Raiders.

Reid got into his Pro Bowl tight end's face when Kelce threw his helmet in rage on the sideline during that loss.
